ST. JOSEPH'S SECONDARY SCHOOL, KUCHING

Sekolah Menegah Kebangsaan St. Joseph, Kuching

Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, 93000 Kuching, Sarawak

St. Joseph's Missionaries (or the Mill Hill Fathers) of the Roman Catholic Church started St. Joseph's School, Kuching in 1882 to provide basic education, knowing that education is an important factor in the building of a nation. This first Catholic missionary school in Sarawak was appropriately named St. Joseph's School after the patron of the Mill Hill Fathers.

They decided to hand over the running of the school to the services of the worl renowned Christian Brothers (or Brothers of St. John Baptist de la Salle or the La Salle Brothers) in 1950. The school motto, 'ORA ET LABORA' is Latin for 'Pray and Labour'.

Old Josephians' Association was formed in 1970 with the principal objective of creating, promoting and maintaining friendsgip, unity and co-operation among its members and to bring ex-pupils of St. Joseph School, wherever they may be, into close touch with the Alma Mater.
